Eric Knodel's hat trick propelled the host Cincinnati Cyclones (7-3-1) to a 5-2 victory over the Quad City Mallards (6-6-0) Tuesday.

The Cyclones scored the game's first three goals. Knodel's wrist shot from the left wing circle gave Cincinnati a 1-0 lead at 17:56 of the first period. Shawn O'Donnell charged into the left wing circle to backhand the Cyclones into a 2-0 advantage at 6:42 of the second period. Cincinnati was on the power play when Knodel blasted the Cyclones' third goal from the left wing circle two minutes and five seconds later.

Tyler Wong cut the gap to 3-1 during a Mallard two-man advantage by one timing Sam Warning's cross-ice pass at 11:24 of the second.

The Cyclone lead widened to 4-1 when Arvin Atwal buried the puck from the slot at 7:59 of the third period. Kyle Follmer's power play tip-in brought the Mallards back within two at 14:20 of the third but Knodel would complete his hat trick and cap off the Cincinnati win by scoring an empty net goal with just six seconds remaining.

The Mallards next play at home Friday night at 7:05 p.m. against the Tulsa Oilers. Friday's game also brings the return of $2 Dog/$2 Beer Night presented by 97X.
