The Quad City Mallards partnered with R.I.A. Federal Credit Union to raise better than $1,200 for the River Bend Foodbank Corporate Challenge in the month of February.

R.I.A. raised funds for River Bend Foodbank through the sales of Mallards Fan Experience packages that include locker room tours, the chance to watch pregame warm-ups from the Mallards’ bench and Zamboni rides. The Mallards and R.I.A. also collected donations of non-perishable food items at Mallards’ home games February 10, 11 and 12 and provided a free bundle of chuck-a-pucks in return for each item donated. Eight boxes of non-perishable items were donated to River Bend Foodbank through that food drive.

“We are lucky to have a partnership with the Quad City Mallards, knowing they care about the community as much as we do,” said R.I.A. Federal Credit Union vice president of marketing Jake Ward. “They donated the packages so that one hundred percent of the funds from sales could go directly to River Bend Foodbank, which does amazing work feeding the hungry in the Quad Cities.”

The Mallards and R.I.A. will make an on-ice check presentation to River Bend Foodbank during the first intermission of the Mallards’ game Sunday at 4:05 p.m. against the Wichita Thunder at the iWireless Center.

R.I.A. Federal Credit Union was first established in 1935 on the Rock Island Arsenal to serve military members and federal employees working on the island. For over 20 years R.I.A. Federal Credit Union has been open to serve all of the Quad Cities and surrounding areas, including Wilton, Iowa, and Savanna, Illinois, while maintaining a strong presence on the Rock Island Arsenal.

River Bend Foodbank collects wholesome donations of food from the food industry for distribution to more than 300 charitable community organizations that support the hungry. Located in Davenport, River Bend Foodbank has 60,000 square feet of warehouse space which allows the Foodbank to handle donations of grocery product that its member charities are unable to handle on their own. The Foodbank’s service area includes the Quad Cities and 22 counties in Eastern Iowa and Western Illinois. River Bend Foodbank leads the way as the most cost effective distributor of donated food in the community.
