MALLARDS FALL 4-1 IN KALAMAZOO

Justin Taylor scored twice as the host Kalamazoo Wings (26-24-4) ripped off four unanswered goals to defeat the Quad City Mallards (30-22-2) 4-1 Saturday night.

After falling behind in the first period, the Wings turned the game around with three second period goals. Tyler Biggs' wrist shot from the high slot evened the score at one at 3:23 of the second. Sean O'Rourke rifled the tie-breaker into the top corner from the left wing circle at 8:17. Taylor's tip-in doubled the Wings' lead at 17:26.

Taylor capped off the Kalamazoo victory by scoring an empty goal in the final minute of third period.

The Wings rebounded after Jack Nevins whipped a close-range backhander home to give the Mallards a 1-0 lead at 7:57 of the first period.

The Mallards return home to meet the Wichita Thunder tomorrow at 4:05 p.m. The first 1,000 kids ages 12 and under through the gates for tomorrow's game will receive free Mallards youth replica jerseys courtesy of WQAD News 8 and Scott County Family YMCA. After tomorrow’s game fans will have another chance to skate with the Mallards. Fans can bring their skates and hit the ice alongside all of their favorite players.
