Forward Tyler Wong has been loaned to the Quad City Mallards by American Hockey League’s Chicago Wolves, the Mallards announced today.

Wong, a 21-year old rookie, has scored one goal in nine games with the Wolves this season. The 5-foot-9, 175-pound Airdrie, Alberta, native last year finished tied for first in the Western Hockey League in goals (51) and was named to the WHL (East) First All-Star Team while playing for the Lethbridge Hurricanes. Wong also finished third in the league in points by producing 109 in 69 games.

Wong spent five full seasons and part of a sixth in Lethbridge. He served as the Hurricanes’ captain for each of his final two junior campaigns. Wong was also awarded the Doug Wickenheiser Trophy as WHL Humanitarian of the Year each of the last two seasons. He finished his Western League career having totaled 143 goals, 155 assists and 298 points in 317 games.

Wong got his first taste of professional hockey when he played three games- and picked up one assist- for the AHL’s Toronto Marlies late in the 2015-16 season.

The Mallards next play at home Saturday night at 7:05 p.m. against the Indy Fuel. The Mallards will celebrate Veterans’ Day with their annual Military Appreciation Night Saturday. The Mallards will pay tribute to those who have served in the armed forces by wearing special edition military-themed jerseys against the Fuel. After Saturday’s game, the Mallards will continue to don those unique jerseys during warm-ups prior to home games until auctioning them off to benefit VFW Post 1303 in Rock Island at their March 16 game.  All current and former military personnel and their families can purchase tickets to Saturday’s game for just $10.

Tickets for Saturday's contest and all Mallards regular season home games are now on sale at the TaxSlayer Center box office, Ticketmaster toll free charge-by-phone (1-800-745-3000) and ticketmaster.com. The box office is open weekdays from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
