Tyler Parsons made 28 saves and Hunter Smith and Jordan Kwas scored first period goals as the Kansas City Mavericks (9-6-0) blanked the host Quad City Mallards (6-8-0) 2-0 Sunday.
The Mavericks took a 1-0 lead when Smith's centering pass was deflected past Mallard goaltender Brandon Komm (26 saves) 11 minutes, 58 seconds into game. Kwas tipped in the second goal with just ten seconds left in opening period.
Parsons then stopped 22 shots over the final two periods to keep the Mallards from mounting a comeback.
