By: Mallards Communications Staff

The Quad City Mallards have signed rookie forward Paxton Leroux, the Mallards announced today.

Injury limited Leroux, 21, to 14 games in the major junior Ontario Hockey League last season.  The 6’ 3”, 200-pound Peterborough, Ontario, native scored once and collected 32 penalty minutes in 13 outings with the London Knights.  He also played a single game for the Kitchener Rangers.  In 2012-13 Leroux picked up an assist along with 66 minutes in penalties in 22 games with the Knights.

“Paxton is a hard working, physical player and is someone who brings a lot of of toughness to our lineup,” said Mallards coach and general manager Terry Ruskowski.  “With his work ethic and his size and strength he can be a difficult player to play against.”

Before joining the Knights, Leroux spent two full seasons and parts of two other campaigns with the Ontario Junior (A) Hockey League’s Peterborough Liftlock Stars.

The Mallards open the 2014-15 season at home against the Rapid City Rush on Friday, October 24 at 7:05 p.m.  The Mallards’ training camp continues tomorrow from 11:45 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the River’s Edge in Davenport.  Next Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday the Mallards will skate at the River’s Edge from 9:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.  All training camp sessions are open to the public free of charge.
