MALLARDS SIGN ROOKIE CLARKE

The Quad City Mallards have signed rookie forward Michael Clarke, the Mallards announced today.

Clarke, 20, led the Ontario Hockey League’s Peterborough Petes in point scoring this season.  The 6’ 0”, 186-pound native of London, Ontario, scored 23 goals and added 32 assists for 55 points in 58 regular season games.  Peterborough was eliminated in the opening round of the OHL J. Ross Robertson Cup playoffs by the Oshawa Generals last week.  

Clarke was selected by the Colorado Avalanche in the fifth round of the 2012 National Hockey League Entry Draft with the one hundred thirty-second overall choice.  He produced 59 goals, 76 assists and 135 points in 261 games over four-plus major junior seasons with the Petes and Windsor Spitfires.

The Mallards play their final regular season game tomorrow night at 7:05 p.m. against the Tulsa Oilers at the iWireless Center.  Tomorrow is also Fan Appreciation Night.  The evening will feature a host of prize drawings- including John Deere Classic tickets and Mallards season tickets- and a postgame auction of the black jerseys worn by the Mallards in tomorrow night’s contest.
 
Seats for tomorrow night’s game are on sale now as are tickets for the Mallards’ first three home playoff games.   The Mallards will open the best-of-seven opening round of the Kelly Cup playoffs next week on a date to be announced against a foe also still to be determined.  Tickets are available through the iWireless Center box office, Ticketmaster outlets, ticketmaster.com and Ticketmaster charge-by-phone toll free at 1-800-745-3000.  The box office is open weekdays from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and game days from 10:00 a.m. until the start of the second period.  Tickets are available for $10, $16, $20 and $28.
