Dylan Clarke, Ben Marshall and Matt White scored second period goals as the Indy Fuel (29-32-3) surged past the host Quad City Mallards (31-26-6) 3-1 Sunday.

The defeat halted the Mallards' four-game winning streak and reduced the Mallards' lead over the ninth place Tulsa Oilers in the race for the eighth and final playoff spot in the ECHL's Western Conference to just one point.

The Fuel erased a 1-0 defict when Mallard goaltender P.J. Musico lost the puck behind the net and Clarke fired it into the open goal at 3:56 of the second. The Fuel was on the power play when Ben Marshall broke the tie with a blast from the right point at 11:20. Matt White jammed in the third Indy goal with just 47 seconds left in the period.

Jordan Knackstedt had given the Mallards the lead from close range at 3:34 of the first period but Fuel netminder Keegan Asmundson (17 saves) would stonewall the Mallards the rest of the way.

Earlier Sunday the Mallards released forward J.T. Osborn from an amateur agreement.

The Mallards return to action on home ice Friday night at 7:05 p.m. against the Evansville IceMen.  Friday also bring the return of $1 Dog/$1 Beer Night presented by 97X and MetroLINK College Night.
