Novak joins the Mallards after completing his college career on March 24 when Western Michigan University was eliminated from the NCAA tournament by the Air Force Academy. He scored once and added three assists in eight games for WMU this season. Novak totaled 14 goals, 17 assists and 31 points in 85 games over his four years as a Bronco.
Before heading to Western Michigan, Novak spent two full seasons and part of a third with the United States Hockey League’s Green Bay Gamblers. In 2011-12, Novak helped the Gamblers to the USHL title before finishing fourth in the league in points (77) the following season.
The Mallards’ Nolan LaPorte was a teammate of Novak’s both at Western Michigan and with the Gamblers. The Mallards’ Grant Arnold was also among Novak’s Green Bay teammates.
